Arts Council Supports Two Power2Give Projects – Seeks Community Assistance

The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County is currently seeking public contributions for two different Power2Give crowd source funding projects and is offering a dollar for dollar match.

Through the Power 2 Give Project, The Arts Council is seeking funding to help increase the size of the bases created for the Winston-Salem Centennial commemorative sculpture.   The public has been invited to contribute to the city’s first-ever publicly-commissioned piece of artwork!  The City of Winston-Salem celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2013 and decided to cap the centennial year celebration by commissioning a beautiful work of art that would honor the rich history of the city, represent the diversity of the community, and honor the historical contributions of women to the City of Winston-Salem.

Local artist Vandorn Hinnant’s “Together We Rise” was selected as the winning piece and is currently under production.  The piece will be located in Corpening Plaza in downtown Winston-Salem.  Public contribution will allow the artist to significantly increase the size of the bases on which the sculptures stand and make this piece a real standout!

These beautiful works of art will be in our community for years to come.  Community donations and Arts Council matched dollars ensure that “Together We Rise” is the grand and beautiful tribute that our city deserves.  If you would like to help fund this project, please click here.

Tiny Hands is the story of a pregnant teenaged girl who, despite struggling with a less-than-nurturing mother and a hypocritical stepdad, just wants to love and be loved.
