What is your favorite part of the arts genre in which you were selected? My favorite part of the visual arts would have to be the variety of mediums that I have learned, and am learning, to use to express myself. Pencil sketching, in particular, is something I favor greatly. I have always paid attention to the fine details of things from life and making them come alive on paper is a challenge that I love to take on.

Where would you most like to attend college and what might be your major? As a sophomore, I haven’t started a very in-depth search for colleges that I would be interested in attending. However, I do know that I would like to explore careers in something that uses my love for art as well as my talents in math.

What is your proudest artistic accomplishment? My proudest accomplishment would have to be a recent self-portrait that I sketched. I had to look at my reflection in a mirror with my head turned so that I could only see about three quarters of my face. I am especially proud of the accurate detail I put into the drawing, and the expression my face seems to display.

How will the arts influence your future career? I intend to have the arts play a key role in whatever my future career may turn out to be. I believe that it is important to enjoy what you do, and I know that having a career where I am involved in the arts will always be enjoyable to me.

It made the trip so much more worthwhile.
