Triad ECO Adventures (TEA) Seeks Artists Work for Sides of New Touring Trollies
Triad ECO Adventures (TEA) is a locally originated, owned and operated small tourism-focused business seeking an artist (or artistic team) to design tasteful art for the side panels for our new “WINSTON” and “SALEM” Trolleys. These obsolete trolleys are currently being refurbished with a Spring 2017 completion date. These “Triad Trolleys” will be used throughout the area for sightseeing, events, & shuttles including historic and comedy tours, weddings, conference transportation, brewery/winery/distillery tours, etc….with terrific visibility throughout our community.
The winning art design(s) will be either painted onto the sides of the trolley or printed onto a decorative wrap which will then be attached to the trolley. The base colors for the “SALEM” Trolley (artistic) are light/dark teal with a reddish roof outline. The base colors for the “Winston” Trolley (innovative) are light/dark orange with a teal roof outline.
Artists may submit designs for either or both trolleys. One eye-catching theme & design will be selected per trolley.
Designs should take the product intent into consideration:
- Create excitement and interest for Triad Trolley riders as well as the community
- Complement the base colors of the trolley for which it is designed
- Be an original clean & simple design (highest quality)
- Be appropriate for viewing by all ages
- Designs should cover the lower (darker) panels of each side of the trolley, based
- on an area 4’ tall by approximately 26’ long
- The “SALEM” Trolley should lean toward an “artistic” imagery
- The “WINSTON” Trolley should lean toward an “innovative” imagery
Artists/Artist teams whose designs are chosen will be awarded a check for $400 (per thoughtful
design, not per person), visible artist credit on the trolley, and oodles of sustainable recognition.
Triad ECO Adventures will pay for the design to be installed on the trolley. (If it is decided to
paint the design rather than print a wrap, TEA will negotiate separately with winning artists to
paint the design.)
The project is open to artists and art students living or studying/working in Winston-Salem/
Forsyth County, regardless of race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity,
pregnancy, age, religion, political affiliation or beliefs, national origin, or handicap.
RFP Selection Process:
A review committee will evaluate all submittals and recommend up to three finalists per trolley.
