Overview:
Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County is pleased to announce an open call for artists for its 2025 exhibition series at the Main Gallery. We invite submissions from both emerging and established artists, as well as artist collectives, working in a variety of media based in North Carolina. This is a unique opportunity to present your work in a dynamic gallery space and engage with our vibrant community.
Arts Council is the chief advocate of the arts and cultural sector for Winston-Salem & Forsyth County. Our goal is to serve as a leader in lifting up, creating awareness, and providing support to grow and sustain artistic, cultural, and creative offerings throughout our region. We acknowledge that it takes every voice, every talent, and every story to make our community a great place to live, work, and play. Arts Council is committed to serving as a facilitator, organizer, and promoter of conversations that are authentic, inclusive, and forward-thinking.
Located in the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts (251 N. Spruce Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101), the Main Gallery plays a vital role in advancing this mission. The gallery hosts rotating, curated exhibitions that showcase the work of select local and regional artists. These exhibitions are designed to resonate with the Arts Council’s mission while providing artists with meaningful exposure and opportunities to engage with a broader audience, ultimately fostering interest in and the sale of their artwork.
THE ENRICHMENT CENTER
CRAFTERS MINI-RETREAT
DATES: February 21, 2025 4:00PM-10:00PM and February 22, 2025 8:00AM-8:00PM

For the first time, The Enrichment Center is opening its doors to our crafting friends in our community. We've assembled a fun-filled weekend with games, prizes, and giveaways, and ALL YOUR MEALS AND SNACKS are included!
Typically known as a "Scrap" in the scrapbooking community we've decided to open this event to anyone who loves crafting! We will provide you with a 6 foot table, chair, and extension cord, you only need to bring your project and lighting. Click on the link below to get the special rate of $75. On February 1 the rate increases to $85.
ALL CRAFTS WELCOME, but we kindly request no paint.

Managing Self-Reliant Careers as Performers
How do you balance performing and paying the bills? This one-hour workshop will address how performers are entrepreneurs and introduce valuation and negotiation techniques, as well as fair and ethical work agreements. David McGraw, coordinator of the Arts Administration program at Elon University, will help participants apply business techniques to their own work in the performing arts.

How It Works
The Professional Development Hub for Creatives welcomes individuals in Guilford County with an entrepreneurial mindset. Selected participants can access free, small business workshops and lectures through programs developed in partnership with local organizations committed to educating and empowering entrepreneurs.
Step One:
To be considered for the program, the first step is completing our online survey. This assessment is designed to assist you in career development. Please be thoughtful, complete, and frank about where you are in your professional development continuum and what you want to achieve.
Step Two:
After our professional staff reviews your online survey assessment, we will reach out to discuss the educational opportunities that best fit your current needs. During our conversation, this is an opportunity for you to talk about your aspirations, readiness, and ability to commit the time necessary to grow.

VISUAL ARTISTS AND POETS
New Deadline: February 12, 2025
Visual artists and poets now have until February 12th to apply for the Southern Prize and State Fellowships. This extension will give Southern Artists impacted by recent weather events more time to apply for these career-changing grants.
The Southern Prize and State Fellowships recognize and celebreate creative excellence through two distinct programs:
2025 Literary Arts Cycle: Offers $80,000 in awards for poets to support and honor exceptional southern writers in this genre.
2025 Visual Arts Cycle: Offers $80,000 in awards for visual artists working in diverse mediums to recognize their outstanding work

ACCESSIBILITY GRANTS
Deadline: March 5, 2025
Amount: Up to $2,500
Accessibility grants help organizations make art programs accessible to individuals of all abilities and backgrounds in their communities.
JAZZ ROAD TOURS
Deadline: March 5, 2025
Amount: $5,000 - $15,000
Jazz road tours offsets tour expense, bridging the pay gap between artists and presenters and may cover costs such as venue fees, travel, equitable pay, management, coordination, childcare, and promotion
CULTURAL SUSTAINABILITY GRANTS
Deadline: February 5, 2025
Amount: Up to $150,000
Cultural Sustainability Grants provide general operating support and collaborative learning opportunities for arts organizations rooted in communities of color with annual operating expenses under $500,000.
JAZZ ROAD CREATIVE RESIDENCIES
Deadline: April 2, 2025
Amount: $5,000 - $40,000
Jazz road creative Residencies enhance jazz artists’ livelihood by supporting creative residencies in communities across the nation.
NDOs VIDEO SHOOT SIGN-UP
The shoot will take place on Friday, February 28, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the top of the 4th and Church Street Parking Deck, 455 N Church St, Winston-Salem. Free parking will be available on location. Participants will receive goodie bags, snacks, coffee, and our undying gratitude. PLEASE FILL OUT A SEPARATE FORM FOR EACH PERSON PARTICIPATING, EVEN CHILDREN.
