Arts Council to host FLOW: Open to the Unexpected exhibition by artist collective Out of the Blue (OOTB) from the Blue Ridge Mountain Region

Winston-Salem, NC (October 31, 2023) -- Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County will host an exhibition entitled FLOW: Open to the Unexpected by artist collective Out of the Blue (OOTB). The exhibition will be on view in the Main Gallery at Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts November 2, 2023 – January 6, 2024. An opening artist reception is scheduled for Friday, November 3, 5-7 PM.

OOTB, an artist collective consisting of Marion Cloaninger, Susan B. Marlowe, Marsha Holmes, and Beth Andrews, is inspired by the natural beauty and spirit of the Blue Ridge region as they express the real and imagined. The exhibition FLOW: Open to the Unexpected celebrates the unpredictable and surprising outcomes of art through textures, patterns, and collage. Attendees will experience works ranging from whimsical, to symbolic, and vibrant to classical. The group has been sharing their processes and exhibiting together since 2015.

“We are artists, creators who have gotten messy, made mistakes, experimented, broken rules, and made art,” said OOTB member, Beth Andrews. “When we give ourselves permission and encouragement to be open to the process, our imagination and intuition are unlocked into a transported state of creativity. This is what we call FLOW.” OOTB look forward to sharing their art with joy through their individual and collective voice.
