Stained Glass Playhouse to present “Picnic”

Stained Glass Playhouse will present “Picnic,” written by William Inge and directed by Gregg Vogelsmeier, on Fridays and Saturdays, May 2-3, 9-10, and 16-17 at 8 pm, and on Sundays, May 4, 11, and 18 at 3 pm.
On a sweltering Labor Day morning, the women of a small town in Kansas are preparing for the annual picnic. This seemingly placid environment is disrupted when Hal Carter, a muscular and charming young drifter, hops off the freight train. Hearts are broken and lives are changed in the following twenty-four hours, as Hal's lively, dangerous energy wakes up the sleepy community.
Stained Glass Playhouse’s production of “Picnic” stars Trevor Platt as Hall Carter, Mollie Klekta as Madge Owens, Shaylee Platt as Millie Owens, Karen Bell-Chandler as Flo Owens, Sara Butner as Rosemary Sydney, Craig Donahue as Howard Bevans, Jane Lucas as Helen Potts, Dillon Sparks as Alan Seymour, Carol Griffin as Irma Kronkite, Lexie Carroll as Christine Schoenwalder, and Clayton Morgan as Bomber Gutzel.
“Picnic” is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection. www.dramatists.com
All performances will be held at Stained Glass Playhouse, located at 4401 Indiana Avenue in Winston-Salem, NC, in the former sanctuary of Marvin United Methodist Church. Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors (60+), $15 for students and teachers, and $10 for children under 12. For tickets, visit stainedglassplayhouse.org, or call the reservation line at (336) 499-1010.
“Picnic” is the final show in Stained Glass Playhouse’s 2024-2025 Season. Their upcoming season will kick off this summer with Stephen Schwartz and John Caird’s joyous and inspirational musical “Children of Eden”, July 25 – August 10. Following that will be James Reach’s chilling murder mystery “Women in White", opening on Halloween and running through November 16. A yet-unannounced show will follow next February (6-22). The season will conclude with the North Carolina community theatre premiere of Sean Grennan’s “A Rock Sails By” next May (1-17).
Stained Glass Playhouse is a 501(c)3 non-profit community theatre specializing in high-quality productions in an intimate setting for an affordable ticket price, offering shows and theatrical events which focus on moral messages, family values, and community issues.
