FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Time Sawyer to Take the Stage at Triad Park

Arts Council to hold final outdoor concert of the season on Saturday, October 21

Winston-Salem, NC (September 22, 2023) – Forsyth County Government and Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County will host folk-rock band Time Sawyer at the eighth annual Parks Concert Series on Saturday, October 21 at 2pm at Triad Park. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will take place at Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts (251 N Spruce Street, Winston-Salem). Check Arts Council’s website and social media for day-of venue updates.

Time Sawyer’s name reflects the pull between the past and the future. The character Tom Sawyer evokes the rural background and love of home that the band shares. Time is a muse for songwriting; it’s the thread that runs through life, bringing new experiences and giving us a sense of urgency, while still connecting us with our past.

The band has performed on the stages of some of the Southeast’s most iconic festivals, including Merlefest, Floydfest, Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion, Albino Skunk Music Festival, and Carolina in the Fall. They’ve shared bills with American Aquarium, John Craigie, Hiss Golden Messenger, Langhorne Slim, John Moreland, Steep Canyon Rangers, The Wood Brothers, Susto, and many more.

Time Sawyer’s songs call out the attitudes and behaviors that lead to our divisions – the way that we show understanding to our friends and family, without thinking about how folks outside our social circle are experiencing their own problems, and are, at heart, just like us. The music does what might seem impossible. It holds listeners accountable, but at the same time, draws them in and makes them feel good about what we all have in common. One of Time Sawyer’s goals has always been for listeners to feel a sense of community and connection during the show, and then to keep it with them, long after the music ends.

During the concert, families are encouraged to enjoy free screenprinting activities by Twofold Printing sponsored by Publix Super Markets Charities. Food will be available for purchase from vendors Wutyasay and Dream Kreams. This is a free and family-friendly concert.

2023 marks the eighth season for the Parks Concert Series which is a collaborative presentation by Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County and Forsyth County Government. This is the final concert of the 2023 season. Series partners include Publix Charities, Best of Winston, WFDD, WSNC, WTOB, YES! Weekly, Foothills Brewing, Raffaldini Vineyards, and RH Barringer Distributers.

The concert and parking are free. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and may bring a picnic or patronize food trucks onsite. Refreshments such as water, beer and wine are available for purchase with all proceeds supporting Arts Council. No outside alcohol is permitted.
